KINGSTON, RI - What is Venus Sings Radio? It is a special time that happens on the fourth Saturday of every month, from 9-11 AM, when Reza Clifton hosts Voices of Women on WRIU. WRIU is a community- and student-run radio station broadcast from the University of Rhode Island; Voices of Women is a program that airs weekly from 9-11 AM (EST) on Saturday morning.
Under the pseudonyms Venus Sings, Reza Rites, and DJ Reza Wreckage, Clifton, plays an eclectic blend of music produced by and/or sung by women - like the other Voices of Women hosts, Liza, Beth and Gail. As an award-winning multimedia journalist with a history of covering arts and culture in RI, global diversity and Pan-Africanism, and women in leadership, Clifton regularly pairs her selection of soul music and dance tunes from other countries and international labels with live and pre-produced interviews with emerging local artists and community leaders.
