RENAISSANCE GARDEN PARTY TO TAKE PLACE SEPTEMBER 11 TO BENEFIT DESTINY HOUSE

PROVIDENCE (September 2, 2011) - Renowned regional musicians will come together on Sunday, September 11 to perform a benefit for Destiny House, a Providence based anti-domestic violence agency. The Providence Renaissance Garden Party features jazz, storytelling and a fish fry. Live music of greats such as, Nat King Cole, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald entertain, tell stories, and interact with the audience as they perform.

The Garden Party is a much anticipated annual tribute to the jazz movement that started in Harlem during the American depression-era of the 1920's.


Proceeds from this community event benefit the unique programs of Destiny House.

DATE: Sunday, September 11, 2011

LOCATION: Davey Lopes Recreation Center, 227 Dudley Street, Providence

TIME: 3:00 - 7:00 pm



COST:  $10.00 adults, $5.00 for children under five, group rates available; includes famous mouth watering fish fry.

Destiny House works to empower adolescents and pregnant and parenting teens to overcome trauma and break the cycle of violence and poverty.  Through a wide range of creative strategies and collaborations, involving outreach and advocacy, Destiny House builds relationships with adolescents and young adults, who may be physically and emotionally "stuck" in destructive patterns of living.  Destiny House fully recognizes poverty and its relationship to violence.
