Eva Cortes was born in Honduras and raised in Sevilla, Spain, and the fusion of those two worlds is evident in her music.

After her first two releases for Universal Jazz Spain “Como Agua Entre los Dedos” (Like Water Between the Fingers), and “El Mar de mi Vida” (The Sea of My Life), and her third, recently released “Back 2 The Source” album, Eva Cortés ranks among the young and most interesting composers and performers of the jazz scene in Spain and Europe.

See her perform live in Providence on Friday night, July 1, 2011 at Providence Inner City Arts’ Roots Café, 276 Westminster Street in Providence, RI. The show includes performances by Neosoul/R&B band Mike Rollins & Co., and Grupo Sazon ft. Jesus Andujar, a RI-based Latin orchestra.

Cortés will also visit Mosaic Latin American Bistro at 166 Valley Street in Providence as part of an event for Girls Rock! Rhode Island, a local non-profit whose mission is to help girls and women empower themselves through music.  The event is from 5-7 PM and youth get in free with a paying adult ($5).  More info can be found at www.girlsrockri.org.
