English Beat is known for blending “Motown, ’60s rock, music hall, and punk” while Fishbone, an “all-black oddball crew,” became famous for their “orgasmic urban gumbo of punk, funk, and ska.”

The Rhode Island Young Professionals, an auxiliary organization to the Urban League of Rhode Island, announces its 7th Annual Winter Soiree, themed "Taking the Torch: Tomorrow's Leaders Today." The event will feature a night of decadence, grace, and stature punctuated by a reception featuring a live pianist, a special dinner, a brief awards ceremony, and plenty of dancing.

Keith Stokes, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, will be the keynote speaker for the evening, while John Guice, Reporter at ABC 6 News, and Reza C. Clifton (of RezaRitesRi.com, VenusSings.com, UrbanHealthWatch.net, and IsisStorm.com), will serve as the master and mistress of ceremonies.
